Great job Alexander. That loco has a face only a mother could love! Nice work. Shapeways cab I assume? Thanks , Mike
That's it, I need a good German beer after these two kicked my butt for the last month. I'm done kitbashing (for now), but I know that won't last long because I have a BC Rail C630M and C425 project to start working on next. I hope those go easier than these two did. WSOR 4490 - Kitbashed GP9RM (from an Atlas GP9) WSOR 4493 - Kitbashed GP9E (from an Atlas GP9) Oh and I managed to finish this little guy. Brian
Forgot, I finished weathering these up on Saturday morning. Family is on vacation without me (don't ask), so I had plenty of free time this week... The dynamic duo was also detailed with everything I could throw at it, (well, almost everything...). I also used primer on the top of the long hood to replicate the color after a turbo failure cooked the paint. UP replaced it, just didn't repaint it into the CNW green. The CEFX unit got some of the more basic details added. Brian
Thanks Mike. The family is on vacation without me (had to work) so my evenings have been free. Still, what's on my bench scares me sometimes. Might need to learn how to say no.... Brian
I can't remeber when I actually did a project for myself... my poor layout must feel like I've abandoned it... so many models, so little time... Thanks, I try to use proto photos as a guide whenever I can, which helps keep it under control... Brian
Just finished BN's full dome Glacier View for a client, I wanted to go all out on it, but he just wanted the Bachman ATSF full dome repainted and decaled in BN colors. I think I will do one for myself correctly, at some point.
Would like to see this, maybe even a tutorial if possible, I have it in the plans, but being its the "hardest" of all the BN business car fleet, it will probably be my last one I do.
Sure I will post a thread for it, when I get around to making it, still need to finish my CNW GP9, BNSF GP9, NS C40-9W and Celebrate the Century cars.
I would also like to see this. I had one done in the fashion you mentioned, but the guy painted on the "Hockey Sticks", so they are at a sharp angle instead of curved !!! Before you dig into this, I gotta' tell you what happened with mine. The car was light and the bottom floor interior was installed backwards. Sounds simple, I know. By the time I got the interior separated from the chassis, the chassis was destroyed !!! I called Bachmann and asked what kind of glue they used. I wanted some !!! I explained to the lady what I had done, and why I did it. She said she would send me a new chassis FOR FREE !!! A few days later, I get this large box from Bachmann. My first thought was," Damn, she sent me HO scale" !!! Nope !!! She sent me three brand new cars !!! The one I used came apart MUCH easier than the original, and the project was completed in time for it's Christmas Eve debut !!! Never did find out what kind of glue that was, though. I still want some, in case I lose a bumper on one of my Suburbans !!!
apologies for the fuzziness, but is this the style of car you're looking for? I did this one in my first year of MRRing
Yeah thats the one, but I am doing the business car version, which just had a horizontal white stripe, without the hockey stick.
Yeah, I can't wait to see it then. I have the con cor BN set Ike, told me that the dome car was wrong so I need to get another full dome to do up in exec. colors any paint reccs.?
I used Floquil BN Green, Model Master Flat White, Model Master Flat Black and Floquil Bright Silver. Microscale has a chart of replacement paints for Floquil ones, since they're gone. here
Yeah, I use the floquil glossy black, BN green. the stripe was a decal, from a MS decal sheet. I wonder if there are colors for BN exec colors.
not sure about the red accents, but the green is close to Model Master's Imperial Japanese Navy Green, and the Tan is close to Model Master's Panzer Interior Buff.
I think the decal sheet includes the red pinstripes(?), is the MM IJN green close I may have to look next time I swing by the LHS, where was the tan on BN exec cars? Thank you orion field!
