From the main lines west of DeWitt, there are few signs that a major plant for the nuclear weapons complex lies over the ridge. The Rim Station, with its guard tower, is one of the signs. The eastbound express freight, its rumbling heard far below in the U-Plant, tells workers that the doodlebug back to Pittston is about 15 minutes behind, If the elevator in the stair tower (far right) isn’t working, it will be a long dash up the stairs. The guard tower is a very loose adaptation of the guard tower at Los Alamos.
