This is very cool. I have seen exactly one photo of these tankers and flatcars, registered to PICX (Pioneer Ice Cream), which was Borden's ice cream division. Your models look very much like the ones in the photo. Do you have any additional info as to where these containers were used? I know Pioneer had a plant in Brooklyn NY that was not on a rail line, so that would have been a natural for this technology. I have about two dozen New England milk cars of various types in O-scale and have toyed with the idea of scratchbuilding this turntable-flat in O. Borden definitely shipped milk in New England, though I can't say I have any evidence of these tankers on flatcars. Again, thanks for this post, excellent job and very inspiring.

Bruce, the picture I found was a one of a kind! have have been looking for others but no luck. there is a friend that I know that did some decals for the butter dish car I also did in Z and he said there is a book you can get that has information on the special flat car designed by Borden's. If I can find the information I will send it to you! these are some interesting cars!
