Burnwell Fuel Company renovations

With more homes and businesses converting from coal to fuel oil for heat, the G. Burnwell Coal Company decided to expand into the fuel oil business. To make room for the oil storage tanks and truck loading rack, the rear retaining wall and the hill behind it were removed. This effectivly doubled the size of the property. The railroad management decided this would be the perfect time to replace the old tressle and track to the Morgan Shoe Company siding. This and the following photo show the wall, hill, and track removed. The track and track bumper in the foreground are for the freight station which is on the work bench and nearly finished. I thought it would be a good idea to expand the fuel company before I put the freight station in place and then have to reach over it to work. As it is I already knocked the cornice off of one of the shoe company buildings. What can I say, sometimes I'm like a bull in a china shop.
