Club Steel Mill

These are shots of a Steel Mill I scratch-bashed for The Elkhart Model Railroad Club (IN).I based it on Bernard Kempinski's fabulous Al-Kem Steel models.I did not use the Walther's kit as a starting point however.I scratchbuilt the blast furnace from a disposable milk bottle,some plastic coat hanger pieces,some CPVC plumbing fittings and assorted odds and ends.I built the entire section of this layout for less than $40,excluding turnouts which were recycled from previous layouts.This area make for some interesting car spotting.
