King Street Station ceiling revealed

Progress inside at the King Street Station in Seattle. The suspended-ceiling tiles and the supporting grid have been removed. The two remnants of the suspended-ceiling are the supporting wires and the fluorescent-tube panels. While an odd mix of the old and the new remain, the progress is in the right direction.

Hard to believe they ever covered up such a beautiful ceiling.

Who knows, Greg? It must have made sense for some reason at some time to the decision-maker(s). Outside the station, the former escalator has been removed, and construction is underway to make the space into a plaza (like I can find a link to the "artist's renderings" right now!)
