N&W 611

The locomotive was in very good condition when the steam program ended, unlike the 1218 which had its guts ripped out down in the shops in Birmingham undergoing a boiler rebuild. It was only cosmetically restored for display at the museum. The boiler on the 611 may need to be rebuilt under federal regulations before it could be used again. The story I was told is that the regulations have nothing to do with hours of service, only calendar years.
