      Excellent! Where was this?

Joint Agency Yard, Kansas City, MO. Shared with MILW. DRGW had trackage rights freights Pueblo-KC (via MP, but sometimes via UP) as a concession of MP-UP merger, so it wasn;t unusual to see Grande power here at that time. Somewhere I have a shot of an ex-Conrail GP40 painted in black & orange.

What year was this? The ex-CR units came to the 'Grande after the trackage rights deal to KC was opened. 1984-ish?

IIRC, this was shot in 1985. As odd as it was to see Rio Grande units in the flatlands of Kansas, I was used to it- SP had already been running on its newly-purchased-and-rebuilt Golden State line from Topeka to Tucumcari since 1982, so spotting tunnel motors along the Kansas River wasn't too unusual.
