A friend of mine took that shot. I chased 1522 that day also but my photos were doomed from the get go. First I waited over an hour to see if I could get a shot of it in front of the Imperial Sugar plant. I heard on the scanner they were waiting in a siding for an east bound KCS train, that I watched go by, to clear. Then I heard the KCS was involved in a grade crossing accident a few miles after it left Sugar Land, blocking the main. I went home to take care of some business when I heard on the scanner everything was cleared up and they were at Sugar Land. Rats, I jumped in my car to head for Rosenberg where they would have to slow down to make the curve leaving the UP Sunset and getting on the BNSF at tower 17. When I got there, everyone was packing up their cameras and tripods. Man, missed it again. Back in the car and went screaming down highway 36 after it. I could see the smoke and finally passed it. Set up for a photo runby at a crossing south of Sealy. Train goes by, snap, snap, snap. Pack up, go home. Look at camera. Opps, no film in it.
