      That's Tennessee? Looks more like Arizona. I never knew they had similar terrain?

      From the information posted with this photo on the Library of Congress web site, the air pollution from the near by copper smelter had killed most of the vegetation for miles around.

      From Google Maps the area still seems to have a lot of bare ground although it seems to have recovered some.

      I would imagine copper oars are substantially heavier than wooden oars.
