Track Buckling
Here's what happens when you forget to turn the air conditioning on. The red line is the bridge deck. It was a hot summer day in a totally enclosed space, with a large garage door facing south. The 30 degree F. rise in temperature caused a 3/8" vertical buckle. Given two lengths of flextrack soldered together, a few of us calculated (using the coefficient of expansion for nickel silver) this displacement as just about right.
