for texture I used sawdust and Elmer's glue, simply brush on glue and then sprinkle saw dust. come back a day later and sweep up the loose saw dust and recycle it for the next area, vacuum up the entire area after textured, you can paint the area before texture to add depth to the textured area or just add paint after or both. Iused a variety of methods throughout the layout. It is fun building the trestles and testing out my biggest locos and rolling stock to see that they clear the trestles.
