I do like this method. For me, it isn't likely I will switch to using it. It certainly looks good. I just don't know how well it will hold up. Just keep posting your results and sharing this procedure. You never know where this can lead to. If only they made miniature fish plates.
Well I certainly recommend giving it a try on one or two joints if you have the need. We've been having some of the weirdest weather here in the city lately and as result, I can almost watch as the rails expand/contract. The PC Tie joints are holding beautifully. I think regardless, it's the maintenance benefit that I love. No more trying to slide joiners off of one rail, or kinking a few inches on either side until there's enough distance to clear the joiner. There's also no more hassle of getting enough room out of the ties for the joiner to fit! Just cut the tie off completely and solder the PC Board tie in it's place.
After hearing about the extreme weather and the way the joints are holding up, I'd have to agree. Sounding and looking better all the time.
