I have often heard of streets named "Station Street" in prototype towns. "Yard Street" is a new one on me. Based on prototype street name... or after a PERSON named "Yard" ?
Behind the houses is a small yard and this street is the only entrance for cars and trucks to this yard. In New Jersey there is a Yard Street, and in Oroville (CA).
I went to grade school, on Railroad Avenue. Across the street from some Northern Pacific RY tracks. Later lived on that same street. In far western Montana, there was once a Milwaukee Road derailment. Where one of their electrics went into a stream. It's been known ever since, as Motor Creek. Boxcab E50
