This line was closed in 1996 for regular service. There were some touristic trains at the beginning of XXI century and on some part there are trolleys in use. There is a discussion to reactivate this line but costs are high due to necessary reconstruction and repairs of bridges. We will see...
Rob (and other T-Track'rs): THIS is what I have been recommending to build like, the non-flat boring of Z-Bend Track and T-Track-Z. I have seen this with the Washington DC group, Zmod in Scandinavia and Altenbeken modules. By changing scenery slopes, one can envision a 'grade' and with a track setback (T-Track-Z has 1" more than ZBT), it makes the trains more 'distant' and reality of the scenery in front.
Following the prototype I did not think about this aspect but you are 100% right. I belivet it will be more visible with the scenery development. There is grass at the moment - still some places need detailing ...
I can't believe how fast you work. It takes me a couple weeks just to build a structure, and months to do a module.
Could be rack railway project startig point In meantime I started with the second module of bridge project:
I try to model little river as accurate as possible. Here is reference photo - not too good but one can imagine how the bottom of the river should look like: That is what I was able to make using Woodland Scenic Water Products and Fine Turf (Soil) :
Your work looks fantastic! I enjoy seeing your progress and all the details. That bridge price has really gone up with Shapeways new pricing! now they have even add a processing fee now! to the price. Thanks for sharing all your progress!
That is true that Shapeways prices are rising ... In meantime I finished general construction of second module for the bridge. There is practically only earthwork with plots of lends on both sides. There will be a road crossing the railway at the end.
OK Jeff, I am going to figure out how to add varying levels of scenery elevation to my TTZ modules. I already have one end module with some elevation.
I had a break from my main project. I tried to have an effect of the plot of land with the fresh grain which just started to grow.Only one part is ready - for comparison. How do you find it ?
What impresses me the most is how with the elevation you widened the base not only prototypical bit just looks right to the eye. What is your plan with ground cover on the slope?
Slope will be covered mainly with the grass and some small bushes to follow the prototypical landscape:
The slope is covered with the grass. Both modules were put together. There is still a lot to be done...
It has been a long time since I work with those modules. I started with some technical issues like legs. They were made by fellow modeller. Two different types were used due to space available:
