Welcome back everyone. I hope you had a great weekend. Judging by the two pages we had for Friday, we should have a bit of ground to cover.

Saturday: Work. I did sell a nice Audi A4 and took in on trade a beautiful low miles 2018 Mustang GT in the rare Crimson color. Hmmmmm.

Sunday: For a change of pace, I actually had a bit of model railroad time. I started the day switching out cars on the B&M layout then started some research. Anyone who is on Facebook, probably is a part of a group named, "I'm from (insert home town here) and I remember when." Naturally, I am part of such a group. On Friday I had posted regarding a bit of info on the B&M depot in my home town. I was pleased to see a lot of comments, one from a railroader. Off to Google Maps I went and started researching the track arrangement. My shadowbox switching layout is 970 N scale feet long and lo and behold, the area I wish to model? about 980 feet. A sign?

The yellow border is my switching layout. I know what your thinking, where is the track, doesn't look like much operations here. While Pan Am still owns this last section of the Northern, up until the 1990's, there was a fair amount of freight here. The station received lumbar, paper and other commodities for the nearby industry, plus there was a team track as well as one more spur. Armed with information, I set about drawing up a track plan.

I still need to add the team track spur, but this is looking like a possibility. It felt good to "model" again.

So how about you? Did you get everything done you set out to do on Friday? Let us know. We'll gather again on Friday the 24th to start the process all over again. Until then, Have a great week, stay safe, health and cool and as always...

Did get some work done on the flat bed trailer I mentioned Friday. Still a little bit to go to finish it. Worked on the scenic divide and it is almost ready to be installed. Several small things, painted some autos, truck tire rims, and detail parts. Also did some work on a building for the layout.

Wishing you all a great week!

Well, I wanted to do the short roof on the C&C building. However, I realized when I started I should do all the window glass, some weathering, plus I had to fix the second story shed building to the top of the brick extension. Turned into a soap opera. HOWEVER, I did manage to get everything done and ready to finish the roofing. Between that and some home front maintenance stuff, that was all I could get done in the train room.

Here's a shot of what I got done on the front this weekend.

Ordered my HOn30 caboose from Japan. An email this morning shows that it is tentatively due here on July 29th. We shall see..... If it does come as hoped, I might order another item.

Finished and uploaded my new Erie Railroad train order web page: https://train-orders.com/TOUR/E/ERIE/ERIE.html Maybe next up will be the DL&W. A much larger project...

I got the 19 hoppers primed. Talk about painting burn out. It's nice to have that project finished. The primer color looks good enough to use as the final color. I may just go with that. Still have to get the decals made.

    Crummy camera.

No other projects were accomplished. Not even cooking. Kind of a lazy weekend after the painting.
It's Monday and I'm recharged for another week. We'll see what I can get done.

Be safe, Be well and stay cool.

I got very little done. I packed away a few locos in preparation for working on the layout.

My plans for running trains last night literally went out the window. We discovered water leaking from under the window sill in our bedroom. This window has a window air conditioning unit. This has been happening on and off for a time. While cleaning the stain I put my finger through the wall because wall board was so soft. Pulled the a/c out and found water leaking from the center of the unit into the window frame which was full of water. Also found some caulking missing. I think this is how the water is getting under the window. We just had the outside repointed. I switched out the a/c with a portable one we have in another room to see if the unit is a problem. Since this is the second unit that we have had a problem with water in the a/c in that window I think there may be a problem with the window. The other unit collected so much water it would spit it out the vents and give you a shower. The portable unit is actually too small for the room so I ordered a bigger one and hoping it gets here soon.

As of Sunday PM, I got eight boxcars reworked. Four include reporting marks. Four are on hold for reporting marks due to ink getting too low in the printer. :( I will get more ink Tuesday. I hope. On the workbench now is a covered hopper repair. Scheduled are two cabooses, a shifter repair/replacement and then a mogul. Below are some pics of the recently completed work.

The second pic is an aerial view of the north end of the yard bounded at the the bottom of the pic by Gartside Street and an old boxcar being used as a utility shed near the curve of Logan Street. As you can see President Jefferson looks on approvingly as yet again picture day is on another "overcast" day in Murphysboro. Also, the railyard shop area is packed clay while the city fathers and street department decided to use a lighter sand/chert mixture to backfill after construction ended. :)

Good weekend. Summer in western Washington is finally here. Should be a good two weeks!;)

Got the toolbox together on the second try. Filled the seams on the existing work. Since that takes some time to cure I fitted the front stirrups/ladder combination. Also started work on footboards for the back. Finally did a test fit and shot it with some primer to see what needed finish work. Will need some more work to fill seams, scratches, gouges, uneven putty, etc.

I am happy with the current state of affairs. Here is a little side-by-side with an original MP tender. That's the toolbox under the coal bunker.

Next up: Continue working on the finish flaws, complete the footboards, add the walkway and water hatch. Moving forward.

Out of town for the next two weekends. See you when I return.

My modeling work from this past weekend was finding a couple of tools that I misplaced no plans yet for the coming weekend.
