My conclusions after following this thread further: You always need more than you have. You always need more than you can afford. Boxcab E50
Bah, it's all about desire. We must resist our cravings, and rise up against our collective desire to acquire! Now go ahead and dump those SD45s on ebay, it's the right thing to do.
Magnat, Don't feel bad about a small fleet... I have been collecting N scale off and on since 1987. Others here have been collecting since N scale was invented!!
I have been watching this topic for some time now and I thought I was nuts But Glad to see that someone else is as crazy as I am. Here is the list of equipment I have in my inventory, 315 Locomotives (mainly BNSF, BN ,UP,NS). 650 plus coal cars, (UNSX,UFIX,OPSX,GNSX,BNSF(3different flavors,black/silver, green/silver, brown silver),BN). 400 plus Covered Hoppers. 104 Autoracks(does not include the 27 automax) about 700 containers (most are in double stack cars). 65 passenger cars. If you went to the gats show last february, you might have seen either the autorack train or the UFIX coal train running on the Colorado Rail Link Module ,I would like to thank them for letting my son and I be part of the show that weekend,Thanks Terry And Jim,(the coal train did make it on the evening news that night on the Fox channel. I never did count the boxcars I have but I do have a few of those. I would like to thank Tom Bryant of Toms trains for getting me in trouble as He always sends me emails on all the latest items out there
After the past five weeks, the steam fleet keeps growing; the diesel fleet on the JJJ&E had a few additions as well. Stay cool and run steam.....
My roster is all-diesel, but I hope to change that with the addition of a Frisco Russian Decapod, such as the jewel Bachmann offered in its Spectrum line a few years back. However, the roster is no newer than the GP40-2s, which in real life were delivered in 1979. Right now, I'm needing more freight cars, esp. auto racks, pig flats, and auto parts cars.....
Re-reading this thread make me want to go out and run some of my trains. Because I goofed on a grade in building this nolix multi-decker, I need ABBAs and double-headed steam to get up the first grade. More power!
Mike, I like the older styles. I will start to acquire some after the track work for Phase II is done. Edit: My mother described the Con Cor Gas Turbine and tender in Sante Fe War Bonnet scheme as "handsome". I think she is right. Chics will dig it. I have agreed in princible to sell the tender to another trainboard member for an unspecified amount. I may have to order another one. Maybe I'll run them as an Engine / Tender / Engine "lashup" They would look sweet at the front of a unit train of silver and red Beth Gons [ 22. January 2005, 01:08: Message edited by: Grey One ]
Well, I mean, isn't that ultimately what the hobby is all about?? </font>[/QUOTE]Um, er, ah, Mike? somehow I don't think many / most of the people who post here would agree. What will I do / think after I actualy find one? Are they like engines? Do you collect as many as you can afford? /note: no they are not. Here is the handsome brute:
