    hey all,

though I might get this weeks TGIF going. since by time someone in the US gets it going, it's Saturday everywhere else so for those still on Thursday, please feel free to wait until Friday to post hehehe!!!

well after spending a week at the dead end of the Railcorp Network, I have the weekend off before moving to Parramatta Rd signal box, it's a small panel but has an hourly yo yo passenger service for the Carlingford branch and a few freights in and out of Sandown. plus it also controls the Level Crossing over Parramatta Rd which is a busy artery connecting the west with Sydney. smash gate time!!!

on the modelling side, hopefully get some painting done, have a SD45 getting a BN uniform but with C&NW heralds to represent one of the 20 or so that were done.
also needing the final coat is a U30C also for C&NW
last but not least is a SD50F for CN.

just ordered some decals from Microscale but they most likely won't arrive until early next week, so that'll give me something to do in my downtime.

    Weekend modeling!

Well I have been building a diorama/ access panel for the last week or so, and I need it to display MAGIC WATER at the train show on Nov. 4th. & 5th. so will be working full time on that.
As an update from last weekend, I have laid down the foundation for the marina/store, put in a dock, retaining wall using the "Building blocks" I sell and glued down the gravel parking lot!

This weekend it looks like I am going to get wet watching my son’s football team; the Drexel Hill Raiders Pee Wee Varsity, play their final regular season game against the Folcroft Falcons. Next week they will begin the play-offs. After that we are supposed to go to dinner. Sunday is up in the air. There are some honey-dos to take car of around the house.

On the modeling front I have a caboose, a two-bay hopper, and a covered hopper to finish weathering. On the layout I need to think about things. I have begun to layout out the Power Plant Spur. I need to decide the extent of the mountain. I am going to use it as a scenic break but I am trying to figure out how much. I have the hard shell to paint along the hillside and rock outcroppings to color.

The priority for me this weekend will be getting ready to present my clinic "Shooting Trains" at the SCWD meeting the following weekend. I've got a few slides to replace with better instructional images and I've got to go through my handout for dead links.

Two tasks that I want to work on include building a track mockup for the main layout to try out a couple of ideas, and beginning construction on a DPM kitbash for my NTrak modules that will be a speakeasy scene (one wall will be cut away so viewers can see the interior details) in the module's foreground. However, the SCWD BOD this week has been discussing moving the division equipment out of leased storage space into another facility that will enable us to maintain storage for free, so I may be moving stuff tomorrow.

Will see Rrrr this weekend. Maybe she will help finance the "Pink Fox Lines" cars. If so and seeing as I have 7 pre orders sight unseen I'll try to do a mockup of one this weekend.

    Hmmm.

    Lucky friday!

We went to a large train show. Our entry ticket was also a lotery ticket, and yes, we won a Roco digital starter set! Now we have a German diesel with two freight cars, rails and (most important of all) a Lokmaus. I have been looking for a second Lokmaus for a long time but it is almost impossible to find one outside a starter set, so this prize was so welcome!!!

And the kids got each a truck with trailer and a flat car from a retailer who will retire soon and wanted to get rid of his stuff!

What a great start of the weekend!

Well as I type we are reviewing the weather. We need to get up North and finish getting the cottage ready for the winter, however they are forecasting 20 to 25 cm, 8 to 10 inchs of snow overnight Friday.

Regardless I plan on reviewing the layout plan and working on that over the weekend between work breaks.

    Have a great weekend all.

Haven't planned it out yet. Jeanne's away, the weather has turned cold and windy, the beer locker is full, trains are running well. I have a long article due Monday that's nearly complete. I got no modeling done this week due to the article, so maybe I'll just go into the train room tomorrow morning, and see what inspires me.

Been working a lot of overtime this weekend. So much so that I missed this post on Friday.

I'm currently reading/studying John Armstrong's "Track Planning for Realistic Operation."

Also worked out my list of Givens & Druthers for the new layout. And I'm working on a fold up table design to please my lovely wife so she can entertain without a big "train table" in the middle of the room. (But honey the guests will love it! It'll be a real conversation piece) She didn't buy it.

This is the digital system of Roco. They launched it, in cooperation with Lenz, many years ago as a simple DCC system for all kind of modellers. And they are right: just connect the wires to the tracks, and you can start running your trains!

I already had one set, but for some stupid reason Roco does not sell the throttle seperately. And I wanted a second one! Well, that problem has been solved :)

Well I really need to get some ground throws in place on my layout. Maybe tomorrow I can shopping for the parts.

Most of my model railroading time is being spent swapping out pizza cutters for low profile wheels and swapping in MT style couplers where I can. All my grain cars now have low profs and I test ran a 11 car grain train last night.

Today I cleaned the layout, again..... And I installed some card holders for the car cards, and discovered that I have lost two cards..... And have not enough waybills..... So, I have to make new cards and waybills, and maybe I can try them today on the layout.

Well, I have tested the waybill system, and found out that it didn't work.... Thanks to my son Tim (7), who used the 'branch line' inside the hill as a runaround track instead of considering it a 'disappearing' branch line, I realised that the hill was useless. Switching was impossible, because there was no official runaround track.

So: I removed the hill, installed new track, and a switch to a new freight house. Now it is possible to spot cars everywhere!
