You've seen 'em- repainted or lined-out rent-a-wrecks, faded paint schemes, ill-concieved paint jobs (two of UP's Heritage schemes come to mind, but I digress).......and admit it- you've actually taken pictures of these pathetic-looking locomotives. Haven't you? If so, how's about sharing your pics here? Don't be ashamed- we've all seen some Gawd-awful paint on otherwise decent diesels. To start, here's a few of my shots: LLPX GP38s 2609 and 2610, in service on DGNO, Sherman, TX. Even graffiti would be an improvement....... NW5 187 (ex-GN), bad enough it has BN green, but primer gray as well? A prime candidate for restoration, if ever I saw one. Milwaukie, OR PNWR SD7 1501, Albany, OR. Obviously of SP ancestry, this has been patched to within an inch of its life. Even G&W colors would be welcome. How to used watered-down primer to cover up a previous paint scheme- NOT! The graffiti is a welcome addition here, sad to say. GW shops, Loveland, CO.
It IS a GP7u. Note the Topeka cab, and sadly, the badly covered-over Santa Fe paint job. Just a wee too much thinner in the paint that day....
Yes, but sadly not the barrel-shaped Pyle light on the front end. And one thing it also lacks- no ditch lights, but since it is just used in the Albany yard.......
I've seen those on Katy freights in & out of Ray Yard, and also on the main line along US69 in Oklahoma. Orange, white, rust, primer, and filth- whadda combo!
Look at number three When I saw it from a distance, I thought they had a UP sandwiched in between the BNSFs
dead line beauties Great thread!, unusual and fun. This is my first post. i enjoy looking at derelict and disused machinery, dead line locos, etc. The ghost town effect, with trains. I'm new to the hobby and don't have many photos yet, sure enjoy all of yours. i'm not sure about the protocol of posting other people's pictures even with attribution, so i'll just post a link instead to two of my favorite local shots of crusty looking diesels. http://www.pbase.com/kentonline/image/76370523 http://www.pbase.com/kentonline/image/76328338
