    Wo!!!!

    Awesome Project!!!

I am guessing these are the same roadrailers that were offered several years ago by Exact Modellbau. Ronald Schulz did an outstanding job designing this superb quality kits!!! I have one of these kits back home just waiting for me to get to it.

Gerd, have you ever thought of designing the BNSF "ICE COLD EXPRESS" decals in Z for the trailers?

This is what I want mine to eventually look like! Not just cool, but COLD!!!

Can these still be acquired? I'd sure love to add to my collection of HoboTim Triple Crown RoadRailers from WAAAAY back.

These are fantastic. A much needed item in Z. Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Bryan,

there where only made to order in a one time series. Maybe some collector will still have the kit in the drawer as I haven't seen many assembled so far.

    Hi Tim,

if Mr. ALPS is starting the development again and giving us a 1200x1200 dpi printer this could be a success....I made some tests (and you too if I remember right), but not looking good at all

    This Photo Perhaps!

Gerd, Perhaps this photo could be used to salvage the icicles and the "Ice Cold Express" logo. The rest can be deleted or modified to work also.

What do you think? If I were home I could run a test on the ALPS. It looks a heck of a lot better than what I was able to come up with! Ick!!! Just might work!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of Roadrailers, has anyone checked out the advertisement that was in the middle of the last Ztrack magazine for http://www.z-cals.com they seem to have a Roadrailer now too. I think the photo in the Ztrack is a bit stretched as the trailers look a bit long. The website does not show any close-ups of the product or give too many details. Anyone purchase any of these want to give a review??

    ???????

When I first saw the spread of these Roadrailers in Ztrack I wanted to know more. They looked a bit stretched in the magazine and I wanted to know if they really were like this or maybe the photo was stretched to fit the page.

I went to the website to check them out. The photos are distant with no way to enlarge them. Detail! I want to add to my Exact Modelbau Roadrailer kit, but only if the detail is prototypical as what I have already! The videos are grainy so the detail cannot be seen there. The video however doesn't really make the roadrailers look as stretched as they look in the photos.

Can you post some close up photo"s" of these roadrailers???? Sides, front, back, all over! Perhaps compare one side by side with one of the Exact Modelbau Roadrailers?

Hope I am not asking for much, just want to make sure they fit my expectations. Thanks!

Just pulled over to get some gas and check the web!

It's been 2 days since I checked the web and my emails. I've been travelling thru Texas to where my new job will be starting next month. Had to inprocess early and now I am on my way home. It is close to mid-night CST on Thursday and I see no one has commented to this thread?

48+ hours and no comments. I smell something and it is not coming from the river or Baton Rouge, LA, which is about 8 miles from me!!

    What gives!!!

I'm highly interested in these but......

Gonna be after 12 noon tomorrow before I pull up into my driveway in North Georgia. Maybe by then someone will have some info here!!!

I just filled up my SUV and will grab a small bite to eat and away I go again!!

    Happy Trails!!!

    Hobo Tim

p.s. The Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona SUCKS!!!!! Should call it the Painted Desert as that is what most of it is showing off anyways. Just sounds better as Petrified Forest!!! Grand Illusions of lots of Stoned Wood. Maybe I should have been stoned to enjoy it more!!! NOOOOOOOO Don't go!!!!!
    Just a Warning!!!

Hi Tim, they are Rapid Prototype trailers from Searails, with Alps decals, and custom etched stainless steel bolsters, on MTL trucks and couplers. They run real good on my 10" radius end modules where we tested them out. The decals are photo realistic, and have the prototype's weathering built in.

2500+ miles and I am tired!!!!

I just finished unpacking the SUV now comes the micro unpacking of all the boxes and duffle bags. Ugh!! It never ends. Just think I will do it all over again in two weeks!! 'sigh'

    Rapid Prototype you say?

Not for me!! As great as it is, the cost vs the ease of breakage is too much. Only RP I've seen worth the cost is that of Mark Gasson's machine. Not sure what kind it is or what it uses to print but seems 110% better than Searails and that of MakeMyModel use(d).

Don't get me wrong, RP is wonderful for alot of applications, but not that much for Z. Just my opinion. Heck, you have to do all kinds of sealing of the RP if you want to make a mold of it to cast from. Cleaning, sealing, just a pain then it sometimes doesn't want to work still. Sticks to the RTV rubber mold.

Think I will go the longer route to increase my Roadrailers!!!

    Thanks Robert for the info!!

    Hobo Tim

p.s. Atlanta is full of Politically Correct people from the Northeast who don't know how to drive! Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!
