    Only one problem

Well, not necessarily a problem, but i have noticed it in all the European Youtubes that show Roadrailers!!!

Jeffrey, I'll be nice and kind!!!! (just a note for my buddy in Atlanta as this very topic was discussed between he and I just two, maybe three days ago)

    Our topic was PROTOTYPICALITY

On an actual roadrailer, all of the trailers have a standard bogie under the rear of each trailer. Only the front and the rear bogies have walkways!!!! The Roadrailers are an awesome addition to any Z scalers collection, but the one thing that was left off from the kit, was an extra "Standard" bogie so that those wanting to purchase multiple kits could make their consist as prototypical as possible.

Gerd, your SWIFT consist looks amazing. When I finally wind up making copies of all this roadrailer brass for my personal use, I will send you several "Standard" bogies so your Amazing 15 can look proto too!!!

    Hobo Tim

p.s. I did contact the guyZ who made the original roadrailer brass, and they wanted an arm, leg and half my brain for one fret of brass!!!!! I was taken aback by their offer and decided I would make more myself!!!!!

    Hi Tim
The kit contains enough parts to build 5 regular units. But those are made for 3 different guys, so everybody needs a front and a rear bogie. ;)

    Tim,
there is a part for another standard boogie with the kit to make a prototypically correct Roadrailer of 15. But as Larry stated it's for 3 different guys, therefore every 5 a front and end platform and no need for this boogie and absolutely no need on my end.

    Get what I deZerve!

I stand corrected. Living on the road to pay the bills is tough on my Z habit!

Gerd I apologize as I did not realiZe the 15 roadrailers were for 3 individual clients of yours. I made an assumption that they were part of your personal collection!!!

Now, here is one of the Youtube videos I was talking about. Noticed I said "One of"!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnHgxT1LEBw

Am I to understand that the consist in this video is made up from 3 different Z scalers roadrailer kits? It is this video and several more like it that always show roadrailers in sets of 5 even though the consist is made up of 10 or 15 roadrailers. My initial point was that I BELIEVE a common mis-conception is out in the Z world that anyone not actually able to view a real Roadrailer consist (ex;NS in Atlanta), or knows how to search for roadrailer videos in Youtube, THINKS that roadrailers are always represented in sets of 5.

Here is a NS Roadrailer consist in action!!!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHehNwGk7Yw&feature=related

Now, if I were not making my living on the road these past 3 years, I might have already multiplied my 5 roadrailers into 80 or more by now. If that were the case I might already have de-bunked the possible mis-conception of roadrailers running in sets of 5. I must also apologize for this lack of action on my behalf.

Viewing many Youtube videos of Z scale roadrailers, I am left to assume that the longest roadrailer consist to have ever prized the Z rail was in Cincinnati, Ohio in July of 2005 at the NTS with 13 Triple Crown's. I am not aware of any videos of this, but know for a fact it took place, especially since they appeared in an edition of Ztrack magazine shortly thereafter.

If while reading this, You, the TB member, still don't understand what I am trying to say, well here it is in straight, laymen terms. If you want to play with fire, you will get burned!!! No, wait, I mean if you want to do it, DO IT RIGHT!!!!!

    It's all I'm asking!!!!

    Hobo Tim

Questions!!! Comments!!! Concerns on this topic!!! Please forward them to my TB private messages and let's discuss them!!!!!

    Hi Tim,

what you see on youtube is indeed from a Z meeting of 3 different oweners, therefore 3x 5 Roadrailer. I'm not aware that somebody is in possesion (anymore) to do a "correct" Roadrailer train. Yes, there are parts in the kit included to exchange the end boogie with a standard one to make it prototypically correct, but you have to undo a screw for the exchange. This screw is selfcutting into the brass sheetmetal, therefore you can count on one hand how often this will be successful until the the brass is worn out...Therefore nobody is bothering to exchange the boogies. Why do you always see Roadrailers in a pack of 5 is simply by the fact that this was a decision at the time to make sets of 5 to make it available for more people for a reasonable price. The number could have been 4 or 6 or 3 either.
So I understood your point and you are right.
