I am from Palm Beach County, Florida and my layout is freelance somewhere in hill country during the mid-fifties. My rolling stock is AT&SF and SP. However I do have 2 Burlington Northern Locomotives becuse my wife likes green and it's important to keep her happy.
Hello Chooch5, welcome aboard. I have a soft spot for CN and CP, as they were my first sightings of north American railroads Warren, my layout is also ATSF based, with some SP, UP and BN, but set in the immediate pre-BNSF merger. Welcome to Trainboard
I'm from Euless, TX, just 5 miles west of DFW Airport. On a good day (and into the night) I can hear the Trinty Railway Express and the UP/BNSF horns from a line about 2 miles south of me. I even get the Tarantula train (excursion) steam whistle on Saturdays (have to listen very carefully)! I can drive about 20 miles west and see a huge BNSF yard in Saginaw, TX or the famous Tower 55 in UP's Fort Worth yard. I obtain and run (not sure I want to call it "modeling") what I see. 6-axle power, coal, hoppers, etc.
Los Angeles, CA...East Hollywood area to be exact. The closest rails to me are some three blocks away and 60 feet under ground My username is the name of the main heavy rail subway line in my town, by the way. The closest mainline railroad track to me is some 3 miles away (UP Coast Line, running through Glendale) I grew up seeing and modeling SP when I was in HO scale, but now everything's UP and I'm modern era N (layout depicts Central California) so I have some Armour Yellow...but I also have some Scarlet and Grey as well. I'm mainly UP now, but there will always be SP in my layout.
Hemi, Are you letting HO people in if they know some N scale people? Here is where I live when I am not at home 3blocks away:teeth:
Just beyond that bunch of trees is the Northeast Rail Corridor just south of Boston, MA. Amtrak and commuter rail. Unfortunately no freight. The loudest thing going past is the F40PHs and GP40CMs.
I'm from Sherman, Texas, about 30 miles north of the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metrosprawl. BNSF and DNGO roll thru here, and just to the north in denison is the ex-Katy Ray Yard, still in use by UP (15-20 trains daily). I model the Frisco (hence my forum name) in the mid-to-late 1970s in NE Oklahoma and SE Kansas.
For the last 21 years I have lived in Sugar Land, Texas. I model the ATSF, SP and MoPac along with a few other "local" railroads.
I grew up in Stockton, CA, and have lived in the SF Bay Area since 1972. I model transition era Santa Fe in the California central valley.
Hi Guys, I live in Guildford,Surrey England and have the london to Portsmouth main line in a cutting at the end of my garden. 3rd rail electric, occasional diesel and sometimes steam excursions.
I am Mathieu (or: Thieu), I live in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Model the New Haven (50's/60's) and the Rock Island (70's).
In the foreign principality of South Florida. Modeling the mountains... cause they ain't got any here.
