In process of uploading additional video that Mom took, from last week. Also gotta check the photos she has, and upload more, if I find anything that I feel is worth showing off. One thing I'm gonna have to try as well, is add a track cleaning car between plow and locomotive(s), to remove any snow on rail head, so electrical pick up is better maintained. And maybe add a couple of small electrical plugs between locomotives, to provide better power pickup, in case one unit stalls. But, I also want to see IF I can get the snow plow for my K-27 now. Maybe try it for plowing snow next time! That things heavy enough! Weighs in at what BOTH GP40's do!! A good best guess on my part anyway! Which might not be a bad idea, as the wedge plow I'm using now, might not be wide enough to let the K pass, without something catching the snow - pilot, cylinders, cab stairs etc...And possibly breaking something. Stay tuned. A little bit more to follow.
That sucks Keith! I was wantin to talk to you about some rollin stock I'd like to get..... Thanks Darren, how ya been?
Hoping for a better 2011 Been a couple of tough years on the home front and work is a bit iffy; but, still doing my thing with RRAdventures & DHVM. Whenever things settle down and $$$'s are not so tight I hope to join you guys on the DGRS and start building my home layouts including a G in the backyard. :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin:
Maybe, if not in too much pain, and weather cooperates......I'm gonna see IF I can get the K outside for a change! Went to Westminster today, and picked up 4 of 6 AMS/Accucraft narrow gauge tank cars! 4 Standard Gasoline and, in 2 weeks, 2 Conoco tanks! And, rounded off, at $72.50 each, it was a hard deal to pass on! Found 3 DRGW NG gons and 3 DRGW NG flat cars on the Bay. Gotta see if available in 2 weeks! If everything works out, photos over the weekend.
But again, ONLY if I took a Saturday off work! And things at the Museum have to be track powered!! But then, since I'm NOT a DGRS member.......... Still, I'd love to be able to run the K, with train. Gotta get things converted first! Plus, I'm looking at several more AMS cars on the Bay right now! A set of 3 DRGW open end gons, and a set of 3 DRGW flat car bodies only. Still have 2 Conoco tanks to get, next payday. Hope to have a rather nice trai, when done!
Your not a member? I thought you was? Yeah I would love to get some more AMS cars....I would like to sell my passenger cars sometime soon....and get some refeers, cattle cars and gons to pull behind mine...someday
Well, Added the plow pilot to my K this afternoon. Also did the drop in KD coupler replacement on the tender. Now, I need to know HOW I go about adding a KD coupler to the front?? IF it can be done! If not, I'm not gonna worry about it. No operations that require the need for a front coupler. So.......... As always, iformation appreciated. Thanks.
Appreciate the offer. But, found out that KD makes a replacement coupler head. The KD 916/1916 coupler head is a direct replacement for the original Bachmann coupler. This way, I can use the coupler shank that came with snow plow, but convert it to the 916 coupler head. For more info, see: http://www.kadee.com/htmbord/page916-1916.htm Now, I just gotta order a set.
Could get interesting today. Got about 4" of snow overnight. And I have a K-27 that needs work! Converted mine to the snow plow pilot a while back. And recently converted that to a KD coupler head. Now, despite some derailment issues last time I tried to run the K, I'm interested in trying again, this time attempting to plow up to 4" of light, fluffy snow! Alone! No caboose etc....Don't want to drag too much stuff upstairs. Foot can't handle it yet. Photos and/or video possible later. IF I manage to get out.
How about a 2 1/2 minute post plow video to start?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=v2OFu0Z3fME Gotta check and see if Mom managed to get any photos. Since my hands were full, I couldn't shoot pictures.
Might try another op session in the AM, after my Dr visit. This time, with all 6 tank cars! Since tax return is expected Tuesday, I'm gonna be getting 4 pipe gons, 5 idelr flats and 3 reefers. To go along with the 6 tanks I have now. All to go with the K-27 of course! Photos and/or video tomorrow night maybe.
