For my 15,000th post, I wanted to share a variety of my favorite shots. From the Taking Montana By Storm trip with Alaska GP49; the GN Hi Line: Tunnel 3.7 and an EB coal train: From Great Falls, MT, the Milwaukee's grand brick depot at last light: From a 2005 UP Steam chase; the return trip from Portland, and arriving at Laramie, WY, with my late great friend, Lynn Nystrom at the throttle: From a 2004 Moffat Route trip with Alaska GP49, the Tunnel 19 "Gates of Hell" shot: The beverages are on me! Enjoy!
Thanks everyone! Tracy M, that shot is possible becuse the west 800' is concrete lined, and the east end turns sharply north. The tunnel is 1055' long, and the tight curve in the east end shuts out all light. The loco headlights light up the bore as seen. It was taken after the sun went down, and twillight was fading. This one's for Campp: The Merzig RR museum hosted a steam run out of Dillingen, Germany, a couple weeks ago; here's the shot of the day, as the little 0-6-0 chuffed into the final station:
Congrats Hemi, been alotta great photo threads & I thank you for sharing with all of us. I still recond you should start a book soon, esp. with all those "out there" shots of the tunnel district, places that no one else has been or published, you have some very unique photo's there. Anyways, this is my fav ^ ,I'll have a Bundy & coke thanx & here's to another 15K ;-)
