I cannot identify the man in the photo, but the Calendar in the background appears to be for November, 1949. Picture shows the conductor inside his caboose on the local working at Vienna, Illinois. Notice the conductor's desk in the caboose: brake valve, pressure gage, lamp, and associated RR paperwork are all visible. All in all, a great picture of a railroader and his place of business. Great photo, Roger. I never had the privilege to get into a NYCS caboose, but have ridden in a few on some of the photographer's specials I have attended. Slack is fun. Thanks for posting this.
