This was the Anderson Indiana roundhouse in 1954. It's split into two portions to be able to see it all without a problem.
Nice, Roger. I can't quite make out the number on the nearer loco in the first pic, but the tender would sure indicate it's a Mohawk. How many stalls? Must have been a lot judging from the exhaust fans on the roof. And was that a yard, so many tracks? Sure wish we had a time machine and could go back to those times.
It was an 8 stall roundhouse and that was a Mohawk. Yes, this was a very busy yard. It still is reasonably busy, but some of the tracks have been removed.
The roundhouse looks as though it was either more stalls at one time, or it was built to be expanded.
The roundhouse in the picture is more than 8 stalls. You even talk about it on a thread from 6 years ago. http://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/south-anderson-roundhouse.51322/ Jason
Ah, yes. It was more than 8 stalls. Sorry. I didn't realize that I had posted shots of it before. Duuuh! It was 16 stalls. The mind isn't as sharp as it once was!
