Well, with Frisco 1522 and SP&S 700 hitting the rails this year, it sounds like a decent steam season- the one downer being Reading 2100. Aside from the usual trips (C&TS, Durango & Silverton, Georgetown Loop, Texas State RR et al), what other locomotives are hitting the road this year? Let's hear it from the fans of 3571, 4449, 844, 3589, etc.

I'm a diesel person, but there's just something about a live, running steam locomotive.........

We in the Northwest are lucky this year. Besides the completed 700 run, the 4449 will get to stretch her legs on May 26-27 over Stampede Pass, and tentatively June 2-3 Vancouver to Wishram and return, day trips. Check it outFriends of the 4449 :D

    Scott,
First of all, welcome to Trainboard.
Second, I remember you from the AOL RR boards (or as I jokingly call them, the free-fire zones). :D :D
Keep the posts coming- and see ya at trackside!

Scott, I also recognize you from the Chaski board. SOME of us (you and me) don't change our names from one place to another. I am a (charter?) member of SBRHS and rode on the California Ltd. in 1991. Email address is fitzrr@pioneer.net.
I lived in CA until 4 years ago, now in Oregon. Rode the SPS 700 a few weeks ago and hope to chase the 4449 in a couple of weeks on her next outing. Been a part of almost all 3751 outings, including Railfair 99. :D

Here's one I missed at Tacoma last weekend. The Mount Ranier Scenic operating at Tacoma Railfan dayz. Martin Hansen photos. Martin doesn't miss anything in the NW! [IMG] [IMG] Looks like Tacoma got "smoked up" pretty good.

    To quote my sons:
    SWEEEEEEEEET!
BTW, is the track that fine train is climbing part of the old Milwaukee Road line?
I seem to recall pics in Trains of MILW slug sets struggling up this same grade.

    Hi Bob,

I indeed remember you from the AOL boards as well, however I havent seen you there lately (things are going extremely slow). I myself have been laying low for the past few months, keeping quiet and only posting when I really feel the need to do so. I guess I am in a sort of RR hibernation (but coming out...). Glad to hear from you once again.

Like I said before, I got rid of AOL and went to a local provider. I've found that Trainboard is a pretty friendly place, without the free-fire zones that the AOL boards have (and no moderator named Twinky, or Tinky Winky, or whatever :D ) acting like the clueless wonder.
And oh yes, as moderator of this forum, welcome to Trainboard!
(nope, don't miss the political wars either
:D :D - this is much more peaceful)

Friscobob, I am embarrassed to say that I don't know if those are Milwaukee Road rails or not. I didn't get to the show (not that it would have helped). I'm sure there will be some stuff published on it and hopefully someone will identify the rails. :(
