I'm probably going to get into big doodoo over this but have copied Jeff Robertsons great shot he posted on TrainOrders. I think it is one of the best steam shots I have seen in a long time. Great job, Jeff.
Mick, I wish I could, but have never railfanned the CP in Canada. Maybe Dane or Rick who live in BC can tell us the location of Morants Curve. The picture is just stunning though. What a beautiful spot.
Well, this is one of those pieces of information you think you know until some one asks you....lol. I think it is on the CP line in Alberta, but close to what I am not sure. But I will flash an email to my "knowledgeable" friends and get back to you. For those new to railfanning in Canada, Morant's curve was named after a famous photographer who took a kagillion pictures at this location. He was there so much, the engineers named the location after him. I am pretty certain he has passed on. If this is Morant's curve, it is an unusual shot as usually the entire curve is included. It doesn't feel right to me, but if a telephoto lens was used, it could throw my perspective off. But it looks like he has caught the train early into the curve. Dane and I haven't railfanned there, but I hope to some day. [ 18 October 2001: Message edited by: rsn48 ]</p>
Below is an email I received from a buddy of mine in request of location of Morant's curve. This area is in Alberta, so not far from Banff at all. Hi Rick In the Banff Park area between Banff and Lake Louise on the Laggan Subdivision; approx 3 miles by rail east of Lake Louise Station; note not on Trans Canada Hwy
