Good morning everyone ... I have three questions for the AZL folk ... 1. How / where are the coal porters? 2. Any news on the Auto-racks? or is it too early yet? 3. Any plans for Amtrak superliner cars?
Gordon, those are three great questions. I specially like the one about the superliners. If you can get the FR F40PH, then you will be all set.
Good questions. 1. The coal porters are coming. They production is done. They cars are in the finishing stage with painting and lettering. I hope to see them very soon. AZL did meet with Bowser this past weekend to discuss the run, but I have not heard any more information. 2. Autoracks. This project is moving forward. Some parts are already completed. 3. AZL has considered offering these cars and locos. AZL does need to move more F59PHI sets before this project can be looked at seriously. Rob Kluz
I messed up bigtime in buying spare F59PHI locos when I should have just bought complete sets. I am now at the point where I want more surfliner cars, but I don't want anymore F59's. I have 4 F59's, which is enough. If AZL broke up the sets, they could sell all the passenger cars, then they would only be stuck sitting on F59's. (which are great loco's, but only useful for passenger cars) The big problem with the passenger cars is you have to buy a loco and only get 4 cars. I wish that you could get 8 cars, as one F59 would have no problem pulling them. So, they will move slowly, now that everyone has their basic set. -Robert
I wouldn't mind being able to buy more Sounder cars separate from the sets ... maybe that would be a good way to get rid of excess inventory? I do think that Superliner I and II cars are needed (along with the Transisition Sleepers and the old Bi-level lounges ... now used as Pacific Parlour cars for the Coast Starlight
