I was in heaven this past saturday hangin' out once again with 3751 at Union Station's Train Day...Didn't take cab tour this time as I have been in cab before and was now $10.00 to boot...I did try to get a ride out to wye when she left to turn around to back in for private car couple-up for trip to Redondo Jct. But, of course it was a no..Anyhow, still great to again take in this marvelous behemouth machine, sounds, smells..Guys in crew were really nice and easy to chat with on platform but I caught one guy grumbling something about "No more tours !!".. I guess the headache of getting droves of the mostly uninformed public in, through and out of cab with their OOhs and Ahs and repetitive questions gets old after a while...Then getting them safely down stirrups gets old, too. But he got cheery again when departure time was nearing and last tourists were finishing up the last cab visit..When she first backed out she stopped a long time near end of platform (I guess to wait for a throat switch to align). It was great to view her far enough away, headlight glaring, to think of it as if an HO engine on a layout instead of 1:1 scale that she was..
AH, yeah sorry, I don't own a digital camera..I'm not much for photo taking anyway as I know no one who'd much want to see them anyhow. And, my memory banks of certain things seems to offer enough pleasurable recall of this kind of occurance..
