So I just got invoiced for the GATX 50' tank cars that I ordered from 3RWorks. Has anyone else ordered these and received them? if you have no clue to what I am referring to: http://www.3rworks.com/TankCarE.htm
I heard I heard the other day that Kurt had finished building the tank cars and was getting them ready to ship out. I know he is looking to outsource some of the parts to build these beautiful tank cars! Hobo Tim
Gordon, You sure buy everything that is modern. Do you have pictures of your layout, and what railroad model. I see your post are everywhere, but I dont know what you model. I just love to see other peoples work.
I used to have a nice little z railroad that I worked on with my grandfather before he passed away however it met with an unfortunate end ... in fact I gave model railroading up until I saw the AZL sounder set. so now I am back in the planning stages of modelling the pacific NW (today) ... problem is that I have very little space currently and even less time (I normally pull 14 hour days at the office) the plan (for now) is to make a couple of modules of the BNSF main line running along Elliot Bay (Puget Sound) The coast here is real twisty so wide turns (like around a balloon end module would work perfectly ... so at least I can have these things running instead of sitting in a cabinet ... so I am always looking for modern equipment (tank cars, Robert's exxcellent centerbean cars, MTL boxcars, FR hoppers, Gundersons, etc ... mostly I am just practicing making stuff like scenery trying out what size gravel looks like big boulders in Z, etc ...
Gordon, I guess we model what we see. I would love love to model the Columbia River Gorge. It has everything you want in scenery. Mountains, river, tunnels, and Mount Hood in the background. You can run BNSF on one side, and UP on the other. I would think they would make a nice module theme in a club. But, I like to model what I see, and all I see is CSX. Its funny, my very first NA engine is also a sounder.
a cool thing though is that normal ops here in Seattle can have a BNSF train being pulled by a combination of BNSF, UP, CN, NS, and even SP and CSX occasionally ... which, of course is in addition to the 26 varieties of BNSF paintschemes that are operating still
Amen to that Gordon!! You never know what you'll see on my way to work. Every morning it's never the same. I would drop if I saw 2 or 3 loco's that looked the same on the head-end!
Kurt, do you have pictures of your layout yet. I know you been working on it for a while. I want to see some of your GN stuff.
I just received my three GATX tank cars that I ordered. I must say these are well worth the wait! these cars look better than they did in the photos ... and they survived the jorney to the west coast intact (only one problem ... one coupler was installed upsidedown ... but nothing was broken. I definitely recommend getting on the future production list if at all possible for thes e cars G
I know these cars are in high demand but I was wondering how much they are and how do you go about ordering them. Thanks
