For any of you northwest fans who missed the 4449 in AFT colors, she will pull the Art Train to Hillsboro, OR on June 29 and be on display, steamed up in Hillsboro until at least July 2, and maybe July 4 (fitting). One thing I have not yet determined is where she will pick up the train. Anyone know?
Jim, The Artrain trainset is planned to be picked up at Brooklyn. As with everything on the rails, we have no idea when we will leave Brooklyn, but there has been talk of "staging" on the line so we can make a grand entrance into Hillsboro in time for the 5 o'clock news. Yes, The 4449 is planned to be spotted at the Hillsboro Max station stop. The 4449s' consessions car is planned to be spotted on the curved track that leads off of the mainline a few feet from the platform, and the Artrain is going to be on the street trackage just down from the consessions car. The Artrain and consessions car will be on the Forest Grove line. The 4449 will not make the curve onto the Forest Grove line, so we will stay on the mainline, hot, and ready to move for the evening freights. If you fly in for this event, you can take a light rail train from the airport, transfer to another light rail train, and it will drop you off at the platform the 4449 will be at. This would save you around $40.00 in cab fare each way! Smokebox
