Ok Amuricans and patriots, the 4449 will be out on the rails one week from yesterday, Friday, June 28. She will be leaving Portland's Brooklyn roundhouse around 0700 to 0730, running south on P&W rails, crossing the Willamette at Lake Oswego, then west to Hillsboro on P&W, pulling the Art Train. She will be on display and under steam at Hillsboro along with the Art Train, till July 4. Incidentally, for you aviation folks, the Art Train is filled with NASA astronaut exhibits. Sounds real interesting. :D [IMG]

After about 340 miles of driving, mostly in "driving" rain, here is a modest shot from the camcorder, thus low res. This was like a blast from the past. Doyle stopped the train alongside Tualatin Valley Highway, got out of the cab and ran across the highway to the 7-11, just like "going to beans." I stopped my car to let him cross. Wish I had got all that on video, but I didn't. As a result of this stop, we got a lot more coverage than we had hoped for. Steam is great on any day! [IMG]

    Jim,

Did you get to check out the concessions car?
We have some new items, and 1/3rd of the car id devoted the the ORHF display.

    Check out www.orhf.org

Dave, great to see you here at Trainboard! I didn't get into the concession car as it was in transit most of the time we were there. My buddy bought a hat from the ground, so all was not lost. I have a whole lot of 4449 souveniers and am sure I will have more. The ORHF sounds like a great idea to me. [IMG] [IMG]

Well, I got mine back today and am really disappointed. Despite overexposing to compensate for the background (Bright sky and rain), I blew most of them. Here's the one I was going to win the Railfan and Railroad magazine cover contest with (Yeah, right). Thought when I took it that I had cut off the pilot. Turns out it's the best one I got. :( [IMG]

    Fitz!
Nice shots of a beautiful engine!
    Just beautiful!

I enjoyed the Art Train a few years back when they had a great display of TOYS!
What a class act to be pulled by such an American beauty!
Can you throw some switches and reroute them towards Grand Central????????

Glad it worked for you, Michael. I'm answering this because you posted that late in the day and I don't think too many people got to see those great photos. Darn, I just did the same thing. [IMG] [IMG]
