Just wanted to post a few photos of my latest personal projects. I have been working on this for nearly a month, 48' trailers to ride on my Alan Curtis 48' Spine cars. I have cast, cleaned, prepped, painted, decaled, and clear coated 2 sets of five 48' trailers. Both sets are special to me, but the first hits close to home. Texas Trucking! Five different decals advertising some of Texas' top places to go or things to do. First is the TRE (Trinity Rail Express) "Ride the Rail", second is "Remember the Alamo", third is the San Antonio Spurs, fourth is the Houston Astros, and the fifth is the Dallas Cowboys. I have at least 20 more Texas ideas I could add to the decals. A hole fleet of cool Texas trailers. Patriotic Transport! Although I decaled five trailers, the decals are all the same. I could very easily include such USA advertisements as I did on the Texas Trucking decals, maybe later. I am a veteran and feel that certain parties are trying to de-rail (pardon the pun) this once Great Nation! All politics aside, I am a very Patriotic Person! I'll post close-up photos in the following 2 postings . Look forward to all comments! Hobo Tim
Part III If you look close you will notice they are not entirely complete yet. I do have some brass to etch and then detail the trailer to completion. That comes later. I started this project about 2 weeks before http://www.makemymodel.com introduced their version of a 48'x102" trailer. I ordered one but received a trailer that was 42 Z scale feet in length. I emailed them of this discrepency. They emailed back stating they had fixed it and would be sending me a corrected replacement along with my second order. That was 2+ weeks ago. No package yet. When I do receive the new version of the 48' trailer I will post photos. I am open to making some custom generic decals for your trucking companies. Just send me an email with some ideas! Hobo Tim
I love Texas! I lived their for 3 Month. That was 25 Years ago!!! The name of the small City was Marion near Seguin, close to San Antonio.
ALPS MD5000 printer program! Robert, Since these decals were being placed on a white background, I printed in CYMK mode. Print and spit! The only thing I ever print in spot mode is White because the decal has white or to brighten the decals for they will be placed on a dark background. I did some fuel company decals for J. Shiff once. Some had white in the logo and some did not. The most impressive decal was the Union 76. Turned out awesome! I have not yet experimented with all those special spot color settings. Perhaps I should! Hmmmmmm! Hobo Tim
1 hour south! Jurg, My home of origin is about one hours drive time south of Seguin! A little ole' place called Hobson, in Karnes County. The San Antonio river runs right thru it. It is said that the last rider to leave the Alamo, for Goliad to get help, crossed the San Antonio river around Hobson. Never thought you'd get a little bit of history in Z scale, huh? Love that Texas! :lightning: Hobo Tim
Thats funny Tim! When I lived in Marion I bought a 66 Mustang for 950$. Marion had a Railroad Crossing and I often spend 10+ Minutes until the Train passed by. Maybe that is the reason because I'm modelling American Trains. After my visit in Texas was finished, I was driven to San Diego, then San Franciso, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, New Orleans, Miami, Balitmore, Washington DC, New York, Buffalo, Toronto, Montreal. More then 20000 Miles in one Year!!!
i am looking for some ttx spine car decals, can someone post a pik of some close ups of them... i cant find a good macro shot anywhere.
