As John Coots is fighting with his stroke, lets keep him in out thoughts and prayers this challenge with a look at some of his products and contributions to the hobby.

. All challenges close at 12 midnight (24:00 hours) Eastern Standard Time on Monday 1st Sept 2008, and will be noted with a "Time's up!" post within the thread.
    2. Please use the challenge as a motive to take a new photograph rather than using a photograph that you have taken in the past.
    3. Challenges are open to everyone, have fun!!
    4. Though not required, commenting on other peoples pictures is encouraged.
    5. Only one image per participant so please choose the image carefully.
    6. Any posts with images taken before the commencement of the challenge will be deleted.
    7. For photos to be eligible they must be taken between the Aug 30th and Sept 1 2008.
    8. Ensure dates and times on your camera are correct.

I look forward to seeing many contributors, remember this is to encourage all modellers to take a shot of the subject rather than post a photo taken in the past.

I think it would be modeling shots that have N Scale of Nevada products in them.

This is an NSN white metal kit I made around 1990. The ends, sides and bottom were all separate pieces. I did a little sanding and then used CA glue for assembly. The detail includes separate ladders, grabs, body mount couplers, and brake wheels. Maybe I can add additional photos after the contest is over. This is the first N scale car I ever saw with under body detail that was as good as the top side of the car.

I've never met John Coots, but I have corresponded with him many times. He has helped me often. We usually ended with some type of discussion about Southern Pacific.

This is an early Atlas Geep where they stretched the shell to fit over an Alco frame throwing all the proportions off. I used one of John's retro-frames to move the trucks out to the ends more to make it look better. This shell has had quite a few paint jobs on it over the years. This is the latest.

Thanks to John... A ConCor autorack can look good. These have NSN etched panels on them.

This was an early effort by NSN. It really made a difference in the appearance of the Atlas/Kato(?) units. I did several of them for my friends. It would be interesting to see this unit length and truck spacing compared to a properly scaled GP7/9. (f you have the time, Russell.) It shows the effort that John made and in those early days. He was really a modeler first. We were all so eager for good engines in those days.

I've gotten busy with going back to work and didn't post the poll, but in Honor of John and what he has done for this hobby, all of this weeks entries are winners, just like John was.
My friend will be missed very much.
