Here's my 8% grade, each of the bents had to be made at different heights, which just about drove me around the bend and up the hill myself.
I'd love to see a "rod" steamer hammer up that! Some spectacular show of power! I believe my EL-5 (2-8-8-0) would do the job! With around 8 to 10 cars coupled to it. But what a show it would be! As always Paul, GREAT work! I know what you mean with the making the bents being a real scale headache.... I have one to do simular but, my tressle isn't on an 8% grade! I'm pushing I believe 2% on my tressles so won't be so much difference in bent lengths. And also, mine isn't wooden, I got a double mainline tressle to build from steel (Plastruct) I know how you felt when you cut one leg, 1/32" to short! HA! Thats the fun of it all... Your not a model Railroader if you haven't made mistakes!
SHEESH! I haven't seen grades like that since I rode the Mount Washington (New Hampshire) Cog Railway! Paul, Your imagination appears to be BOUNDLESS!!
Paul, that is breath taking indeed. I could never duplicate that! Beautiful! You are amazing. I think I'll put my trains back in the closet and take up another hobby!!!!!!!! LOL!
Paul. I know what you mean "around the bend". My old layout had a switch right in the middle of a trestle. One leg level and the other dropping about 6 percent. My wife was about ready to call the little men in white coats before I finally got it figured out. Anyway, That trestle of yours looks fantastic. Paul, you look like you are havng alot of fun with this...I wish the most aggravating part of My day could be nothing more the a 1:87 elevated trestle that has a problem with bent heights! To all the other: Keep faith in your abilities, do not give up, and when you are Paul's age, YOU to will be able to build magnificent pikes...they may no look the same, but they will mean the same to you.
Hi Guys, thanks for the kind remarks, yes, I am getting on in years in fact I shall be 65 tomorrow 14th (BUS PASS DAY LOL)
