DENVER - Officials at Denver International Airport say a power outage may be to blame after all its shuttle trains stopped running between terminals for a short time on Wednesday.

According to Jeff Green, DIA spokesman, the trains stopped running around 10:40 a.m., causing a major logjam transporting passengers between the airport's terminals.

"Luckily, this kind of happened at a time of day where we're not horribly busy," Green told 9NEWS. "And it also happened on a day of the week when we're not terribly busy, so we don't think this really had much of an impact on people missing flights, or flight delays at all."

Green says the trains began running just after 11 a.m. and backups were cleared by 11:30 a.m. Six trains are currently running.

There were passengers onboard the trains when the outage occurred, and an emergency evacuation was necessary on at least one of the trains, according to Green. He says the evacuation is a simple process as there are plenty of emergency exits.

Green says no injuries were reported in the evacuation.

Airlines were alerted of the train malfunction and some passengers were transported between terminals by bus during the outage.

The cause is under investigation but Green says sabotage is not suspected.

The underground trains connect the main terminal with the three freestanding concourses. Concourse A can also be reached by an enclosed pedestrian bridge, but Concourses B and C are accessible only by the trains.
