I received 6 packages of the new 36" wheelsets from Micro-Trains, ordered from Walthers through my LHS. 3 of the six packages contained the smaller low profile wheelsets.
Wondering if this was a packaging error at Micro-Trains or if it involved something like a switcheroo/return/refund type of thing at Walthers.

    Anyone else run into this?

I thought the new MTL 36" wheels only come with one kind of flange (the "mid" profile one).

    003 12 007 $9.95 36" Standard Wheel Sets

    (also comes in brown - 003 12 008)

First I've read of this. A reach out to MTL should fix this straight away.

Mark, I think it's a case of "wrong stock in wrong package."

A call to Micro-Trains has this problem all but straightened out.

I know Sillystring personally, and can vouch 1/ he is one superb model railroader, and 2/if he observes the wheel is 3" off it is certainly that.

He spends considerable time on his work, which I have seen, to ensure it is accurate to the inch. The fact MicroTrains honored his request so quickly lends credence to a packaging error in Talent, OR.

There evidently is/was a packaging error at Micro-Trains.
They are sending me 3 packages of the 36" brown wheels to replace the 3 that were packed with the brown 33" lo-profile wheels.
Heck, without my generic reading glasses, I wouldn't be able to tell a Micro-Trains wheel from some of those horrid wheels that the old MDC cars came with.
    Anyone need any lo-pros?
    Anyone need any slicers?
    I have many of both...
