Wow! Two topics in one day from me! [IMG]

I know you've mentioned it in the past, but what model do you use for your SP bay window cabs? From what I understand, SP and WP bay windows were built about the same time, or are at least very similar.
I have two WP bay windows, a red Walthers version and a brown Con-Cor and neither one is close to correct. And, I'd like to have a small fleet of the steel cabs, with a couple of the old wooden jobs later.
    Thanks!

I use Model Power or similar plastic bay window steel caboose with Gold Medal Models details; the GMM is designed to detail that type of steel caboose. This MP caboose sells for about four US$ on ebay. I don't know a thing about the WP cabooses as shown above.

I think that SP8299 posted a lot of information about SP bay window cabooses. I normally use Espee Modeler's Website by Richard percy for all my info.

Here is the thread in N scale:

    Flash, I love your cabs!
Do you leave the windows as they are, or do you fill some? I don't know how many windows a MP bay window has (I guess I better start looking, huh?).
A WP bay window has one or two windows, depending on build date and when it was rebuilt. Some have no windows at all.

I leave the windows open (no glass) as I dullcote the whole car as the final step of construction. I have closed some windows with "steel" if it was prototype. None of my cabooses are exactly prototype, but they are typical of a particular series of cars. For example, I may make a single C40-4 and C40-5 if they were similar in appearance, but not a particular caboose number in that series.

I took the same Model Power caboose and laminated thin wood siding and then the outside bracing for a WP model. Came up with this. Poor image shot with a much earlier digital of limited means.

How close is an SP bay window to this? Paul, see that cab in front of the F unit? It's one of those MP transfer cabeese you love so much!

Looks like a GMM/MP combination should work with some kitbashing. Close a couple of windows (Colonel has a thread on that.) and make the bay window have a slanted top. Then, you have a WP caboose. [IMG] [IMG] I body mount MT1025 couplers. I prefer the MT trucks (w/o couplers) like the ones here on the WP caboose. Can't remember the name right now; they're not bettendorf like most of the manufacturers use. Hope you can take some pictures of the model.

Thanks, Flash. The MT caboose trucks w/o couplers are what I used on my Walthers and Con-Cor cabs. Hopefully, once I get moved, I can start on all of those projets that I've been putting off!
