A Before and After

    I picked up a couple of locomotives from e-bay at a good price and thought they would be good for me to do some really harsh weathering, something I haven't tried before.
    This is what I longed for ever since I started model RR forty years ago. I just now got the nerve to try something so desperate. I must say that I am pleased with the way they came out so There will surely be more of these to come.
    Here's the new locos

    Quite a difference. Doing this also shifts the time frame of their use to later years.

    You did great. Folks tend to forget that the fronts of locomotives often stay fairly clean when in the lead position but from the lead trucks on back the road grime and dust starts to show getting higher toward the rear. Looks like you captured that just right.

    very well done ! i prefer subtle weathering. what about adding some diesel spill around the fuel tank ?

    Funny you should mention this because that's the first thing I noticed when I was researching weathering these locos.

    That looks really good, something I'll need to do also. :)
