While not exactly a new introduction, it is pretty much the opposite. I figured this was the best place to put it. At the end of this week, I am heading off to college. I am excited to see what the future holds, but going to school means my trains don't come with me. Don't worry, I don't think I will go far, but the workbench and the collection are staying at home. I will try to check in when I can, but if my appearances become fewer, just know that I am grinding out all of my schoolwork. Most of my classes are 'remote' and online to reduce the chances of coronavirus spreading among the big lecture halls, so of course I will still have access to the internet and Trainboard, but most of my personal involvement in the hobby and with my projects will be put on hold. Model railroading will always be part of my life, so hopefully I can come back with guns blazing during breaks and over the summers. I am majoring in mechanical engineering, so hopefully that lands me an internship over the summer too. Who knows, maybe instead of building model trains, I can work on real ones. College is full of opportunity, so it will be exciting to see where I end up. (and hopefully I don't just end up in debt) Trainboard is a great group of guys, so I just wanted to make sure people aren't wondering what happened to me if I go dark.
Thanks for letting us know. It'll be an odd environment with the campus closed, but you'll adapt I'm sure. You'll do great!
An older Dutch gentleman once told me (paraphrased), "don't say good luck, it only leaves room for failure. Instead say 'Success!'" So I leave you with 'Success!'
I am certain you will be a great success at college, and whatever career you end up in. Check in when you can, we will be glad to hear from you. Now go get'em!
