rare indeed.. sure miss the santa fe. i grew up with this road in central texas on the dublin sub. they used to run the jb hunt trains through here along with the normal traffic. i have just recently realized, after reading a couple of books about santa fe in texas, that i saw one of the last, or possibly the very last local passenger train, the "Angelo", that ran thru here in july of 1969. i can still see that 3 car train headind east to fort worth, tx....

Lol...thats funny. I believe those rolled through North Idaho yesterday afternoon while my kids and I were out trainwatching. I remember thinking how cool it was to see the Warbonnet's but how they looked like they had seen better days!

in september, 1993, santa fe rerouted the hunt trains over the up, on the old texas and pacific, saving 55 miles from dallas to LA. after the santa fe, bn merger, they were rerouted again, shorter miles still, over the old fort worth and denver i believe..
