These are some pictures that I took, hope you find them interesting ATSF stock car String of old cars Great Northern Tank car caboose unknown how old w/arch bar trucks Arch bar trucks-chicago on the wheels and Huntoon on the frame notice the link and pin coupler on this box car, any guesses on how old?
George- Any time! I'd rather look at these cars, than what is seen from trackside today! Now, please tell us the story of that box car!!! It's obviously a very odd beast! Boxcab E50
Ken I have absoutely no idea how old or what the boxcar was used for, the car was put together with rivets and there seemed to be some kind of vent doors on the sides along with door on the car ends. Notice the push pole pockets on the frame. I was kinda hoping someone here would identify the car.
Here's a Milw Caboose end looking up Tried to get some exposed roof detail This is nicely restored I took this shot in 76 or thereabouts It seems that the Bay window cabooses of the Milw Rd had no windows built into the ends of the cars.
Me, too! It has me curious! Very odd looking car. Certainly must be quite unique. Cannot recall whether we were putting poling pockets on cars, when I worked at PCF mid-1970's. But we did put roping staples on at least one order. I remember those vividly. They were made in the PCF foundry. And welded on. One of the lady welders stepped on one. It was just tacked in place. Fell right at my feet! Broken back. Ugh. Boxcab E50
I don't recall any. Just in the end doors. One reasons likely being the toilet, and crew lockers are in corners. So no window desired. Boxcab E50
