Shows how far model railroading has come.. Nice to see an old Varney. One powered truck and EMD side frames on a FM.. Does it still run??
Here's the history on this gem: I found it - at a flea market - all oxidized in green - I took it all apart, cleaned the shell chemically, and took the motor apart completely. After putting it all together - I am pleased to report it ran just fine (no load) the spring was too worn to provide adequate traction, but other than that - it is back in service (I actually sold it on EBay a few months back, so I can assume its rolling down someone's layout as we speak!).
