Here is train 349 from today that has 4 GE units, all running elephant style! In addition to 3 different models, we have 3 different roads as well:

The Amtrak locomotive failed and the UP unit was added from a freight to keep Amtrak train 92 moving.

Yes, the Amtrak picked up a freight loco due to engine failure. In talking to one of the passengers, apparently they also had to de-train at one point too.

I have always heard about odd power on Amtrak trains, but this was my first catch! [IMG]

    Here's today's train 349:

An interesting catch! Lead by a CSX SD70AC, also in the consist is an SD70 (in Horsehead scheme), a Dash 9, an unpainted Dash 9, a couple of UP units, and another Dash 9.

Did that train really need all that power, or were they just moving some units?

Great pics, Harold - loved that Amtrak shot - SD90 no less!! You can tell UP was anxious to get that train out of their way!

I think it was just a power balancing move.... 349 goes back to a major yard.

I think the UP unit was picked up from CSX in South Carolina! (Lots of them roaming around down here..)
