I was sorting through the loft the other day having a clear out, (the ceilings are creaking and I fully expect 3 Ton of railway magazines to come crashing through and flatten Ang and Me in our bed !!!) when I found a short VHS videotape with a clip of old Thailand Steam action.I must have had this long before I got into Thai railways but probably never took much notice. I've asked my Thai freinds like Khon Wisarut to see if they can identify where it is but it does show how immaculate Thai steam locomotives were kept in the seventies (The automobiles are a clue) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Zg5wtl852I Personally I love the very short clip of them fuelling the loco with Teak Logs, Teak for Gods sake!, You go to the local timber merchant now for a 6x6 teak lintel and have to take out a second mortgage!
They certainly are lovely, but to be fueled with teak blows my mind. Apparently teak was so plentiful they didn't consider other fuels, especially coal which probably would have been imported. Thanks for your discovery, also for not allowing a non-rail person to clear your loft. :tb-hissyfit:
