Due to a recent trestle fire in Northern California http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=86924, many trains were rerouted over the former LA&SL line from Salt Lake City, Utah to Southern California via Las Vegas. This influx of trains on a single track mainline really caused numerous delays and crews dying on the law a.k.a., their 12 hour shift expired before making the crew change point. In this image 3 priority trains sit at the Vegas depot, awaiting new crews for their journey west to California.
Somehow, I imagined a 5-unit lashup, with 3 SP, and 2 UP engines.... Either way, the clouds and the nice light really make the shot work!
