Well I found a layout on craigslist for a good price. I was able to talk him down a little and brought it home today. It is a 4X8 layout. No trackbed layed down so it is track mounted directly to the plywood. It has also had poor care. Lots of bent track and rolling stock that was a mess. My first thought was that this will be good for parts, but I started tinkering on it a bit. Now I have three working runs around the layout and I have gotten four of the engines running, kinda. One engine races around like mad no matter what the throttle is, another just trundles along, one acts like it has jumping beans in the nose and the last one derails so easy it just makes you mad. There is potential in this layout and I think I will be saving it. It will be a fair amount of work but that should be fun.
I will get some pics up soon. But how best should I go about linking it with my current layout? On will have to be cut down I fear. Any and all ideas are welcome. Shaun

Please post pictures. That and a track plan will be very useful.

Well, I don't know what you paid for it but I hope it wasn't too much. Especially if the state of the engines are any indication of the rest of the layout.

Only gave $200. Seems high at first but with the rolling stock and over a dozen new turnouts and almost 400 feet of atlas code 55 flex it was worth it. We have the entire layout working now. We added the pond and beach. All the Loco's are running now. Almost all right. The turnouts in the layout now are sticky. I hope I can use some oil on them to free them up a little. Do not have t wired for DCC yet, but will work on that when I install track bed. The kids are having a blast working on it with me. I will post more on it as the project goes. As for me, I am going to play with my trains :) . Shaun
