Last weekend, the railroad history community lost a great guy, with his unexpected passing. Chicago & North Western fans especially will instantly recognize the name of Joe Piersen. Joe was very, very active with C&NWHS, and quite well known. An author or co-author in numerous C&NW family RR books, North Western Lines articles and much more. I never met Joe, but had email contact with him, when seeking information. He was very friendly, always willing to help, quick to respond. I am a Milwaukee Road fan, but also have interest in many C&NW topics. I would not be at all surprised to find his name as having helped with a few MILW related topics. He was that kind of guy. He will be missed. R.I.P., Joe.
