Was out & about shooting RR action in Muskogee, OK and found a local freight pulling in from the north on the UP's ex-MKT main. Behind the three-Geep lashup was a short cut of coal hoppers, including this gem:

[IMG]Still hauling coal, just not out of a North Fork or Craig-area mine...... :D

There were several DGRW and MP hoppers in this cut. Not sure where they're loading coal at, unless it's from the old mines north of Welch, OK or SE Kansas. I have seen coal being loaded at Red Oak, OK on the Arkansas-Oklahoma RR (ex-Rock) with similar hoppers.

Nice catch! I see these periodically in Great Falls, MT, of all places, with North Fork or Craig Branch coal for a local steam heat plant.

Great catch! We still see quite a few here around Grand Junction but they are slowly being over taken by other hoppers.
